In the opening words of Genesis, God creates humanity and calls us to have dominion over all God’s creation. God calls humans to be good stewards of earth, our island home.
St. Mark’s welcomes you to the last of a 4-part series on how to successfully plant a home garden. Please join us via Zoom for this informative program and gain an understanding of the basics of gardening.
In this session we'll look at what we need to add to garden soils to make plants grow well. We'll talk about how compost, fertilizer and sometimes lime, work in the soil to feed the plants. And, of course, the importance of a soil test. In addition, we'll spend a little time on our historic local fertilizer industry. Finally, we'll look at soil layers, bedrock and maybe just how old our Lowcountry soils really are. Zoom in to hear Randy James, PhD in soils, and Professor Emeritus from Ohio State University, talk a bit about plants and dirt.
